I have found that I learn and understand things better when it’s presented in steps, patterns or formulas. And when it comes to branding, it can become overwhelming or even confusing for those just starting out. However, it doesn’t have to be complicated at all once you learn and understand the basic principles of creating a brand. So, I came up with a simple 3-step method on how to build a brand. I call it the “TRU” Method to Branding. I’m sure you can guess where the title’s inspiration comes from *wink. This method works for any niche & is easy to implement. It incorporates what I feel to be the building blocks for creating a solid brand. Now, let’s dive in.
The 3-Step Method to Branding (The “TRU” Method)
T: Tell your truth: We all have a story to tell because we all have had our own journey to get to where we are today. Our story is what makes us who we are. Your story is your truth. Your audience wants and needs to hear your story because it is how they connect with your brand. They will be able to not only relate to your truth, but it will establish a new level of trust as a result of your transparency.
R: Rely on your knowledge and experience: It’s so easy to begin to doubt your own skill set because in the world of social media, we constantly see more brands emerging in our same niche, but guess what? Who cares! You already possess the knowledge and the skills you just have to believe it and continue to add to it. A lot of times, it’s our mindset that holds us back from accomplishing so much. Believe in yourself and the skills you have acquired and use your experiences to add to what you know and what you are able to offer.
U: Use a unique angle & approach: Whatever makes you different from your competitors & is that special piece that is indicative to you; let that shine through. Allow this to help you create the strategy you use in marketing to your audience and sharing your product/service. Don’t shy away from thinking outside the box and doing something that no one else is doing. It will allow you to stand out and your audience will take notice and want more from you.
And that’s it. This is the “TRU” Method to Branding. It will help you set the foundation and direction for your brand. When you have a blueprint, you then know what you’re building and what’s needed to get the finished product. This method is your blueprint.
